Hey Girl!

This little cutie is my youngest daughter Ellen, at age two.  She has grown from an adorable little girl into an amazing young woman. She is graduating from college next month and has just bought her first car. It is hard for me to believe that she is 20 years old. Time passes so quickly. I CASE'd this little girl card from www.laurafadora.wordpress.com, after seeing her design on Pinterest. Her blog is loaded with lots of card making ideas and techniques, definitely worth a visit. Her `girl`card reminded me so much of my Ellen, that I made my own version. I used a Spellbinder circle die to create the head and hair and added two punched scallop circles for the pompom ponytails. I added some pink chalk to the cheeks and nose. Ellen had the most kissable cheeks ever!!

Tongue Tied

Just a quickie today! When ever I go to the drugstore, or any store that has a greeting card section, I always stop and take a look for inspiration. I found a cute little card with a frog on it and it was the inspiration for this card. I used a gate fold card base, and the turtle/frog stamp is one of the oldest in my collection, in fact it was the very first stamp I ever bought when I started card making as a hobby. I stamped the image with Versamark, then embossed it in black. I made a second copy so that I could cut the frog and turtle out to apply it to the first image. I coloured the image using water colour paints and highlighted the image with H2O Twinkle paints. I flocked the cattails with brown flock. * When flocking, always colour the area in a similar colour as your flocking if you are not using coloured cardstock, especially if the background is white. If you don't, the cardstock will show through the flocking and it will look sparse and spotty, and nobody wants spotty flock!

Happy Bird-day, Tweet Heart!

Hi card makers! Here's a cutie for you - made it for my friend and fellow card making fanatic, Tracey. Tracey is 12 years old, soon to be 13, and is only the 'kid' in any of my adult card making classes. She is a very talented girl, and not only keeps up with the class, but is one of my star students!!
Tracey is a very shy, sweet girl and somehow reminds me of a little bird, so I made this bird card for her birthday, which is extra special this year as she becomes a teenager!
It is a card in a card, a very versitile design and can be changed up for any occassion. And I got to use my new Martha Stewart Rod Iron Fence punch - bonus!
F.Y.I., whenever I attach ribbon to a card as a tab, I always back it with a punched shape of matching cardstock to add strength and cover the mechanics.

Man Card Alert!!

I love Fridays, especially the last Friday of the month because I get together with an awesome group of card makers! (Hi Girls!) Last month they made a request, they wanted to make a 'Man Card', so I immediately thought tools! I've been doing punch art for as long as I've owned punches, a pretty long time, and I've made punch art tools and several variations of this card in the past. I have never up til now,  put eyes on the tools to make them into characters. I got the idea for the eyes from Wendy over at http://www.stampingstyles.blogspot.com/, so thanks Wendy for the 'eye idea'!
I am pleased with how the card turned out and can't wait to make with you guys! This card has tons of itty bitty pieces and will take quite a while to put together, but because we get together on Fridays and nobody has to get up for work the next day I think we'll be okay!  I made the tools so that they are removable, just in case the 'Man' wants to play with them! The inside of the card features a punch art wrench, I couldn't fit him on the card front and he was too cute to leave out! See you soon!!
